Terms of use

What Vita is
Vita is a habit-tracking application that runs in your web browser. It is local-first: your data is created, encrypted, and stored on the device you use it on. The optional sync server (the “relay”) stores opaque ciphertext on behalf of paired devices and never sees plaintext habits, observations, names, or other content.
Your data, your responsibility
- Vita does not collect personal data on your behalf. You are the only entity that holds the keys to your encrypted data.
- If you lose every device that holds your master key without first pairing another, your encrypted data on the relay becomes permanently unrecoverable. Passphrase recovery is not available yet.
- Wiping local data via the recovery page is irreversible. Vita does not maintain a backup on your behalf.
- If you self-host the relay, you are responsible for its availability, backups, and operation.
Acceptable use
You agree that you will not:
- Use Vita or its relay for any purpose that violates applicable law.
- Probe, scan, or attempt to disrupt the relay’s availability or integrity.
- Misrepresent device labels, account ownership, or otherwise attempt to obtain access to data that is not yours.
No warranty
Vita is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The authors and operators are not liable for data loss, corruption, missed habits, broken streaks, or any other consequence of using or being unable to use the software.
Changes
These terms may change as the project evolves. Material changes will be noted in the About section.
